- The earliest map of the area is by Roque, and is dated 1745.
- Early Ordnance Survey maps of the area are published by Alan Godfrey Maps. The relevant
sheet is London 21 titled Stamford Hill, and comes in three editions, 1868, 1894 and 1913.
Each edition has notes and a street directory on the back.
- The A to Z
of Victorian London has been published by Harry Margary in conjunction with the
Guildhall Library. This is a really excellent publication - one that should be owned by
everyone interested in local history in the London area. It contains two complete
reproductions of maps of the London area. The first is Bacon's Large Scale Ordnance Atlas
of London & Suburbs, 1888 (originally at about 9 miles to the inch - they are reduced
slightly in the reproduction) stretching from Crouch End in the North to Herne Hill in the
South. A small extract of this showing the Clapton Common area is shown below :
